Practice with us this year!
As a special event within the 2025 World Congress on Planetary Health
During the week of June 16 - 22 2025, our global community hosts the second annual World Congress on Planetary Health, focusing on education and community-led action that has deep and positive cascading effects throughout our planet.
Our hypothesis : Leveraging animal disaster preparedness < measurably increases > human evacuation success and family-unit survival and recovery in disaster.
As part of our 2025 June event, our community invests time, resources, and problem-solving energy into finding solutions that keep animals safe during disasters and emergency evacuations, and in turn, keep their human family members safe, too.
Do you have an evacuation plan for your animal?
Who will come rescue your animal if you are not able to get home?
Is your animal physical and mentally healthy enough to enter an emergency shelter? If not, what is your evacuation sheltering plan?
Is your animal’s GoBag ready? When did you last refresh and rotate the equipment (summer vs. winter), refresh the medications / supplements (check expiration dates), or update needed items for new health issues?
On June 22nd (Sunday) at 10a MST | Practice with us.
🧭 What’s Happening:
Animal Evacuation Practice Day
Refine your plan, practice evacuating with your animal family, and connect with a global movement of conscious animal guardians. From anywhere in the world, you can participate in coordinated efforts to ensure animals are not left behind in crisis situations.
In coordination with the Pet Help & Rescue app (PHAR), we’re practicing for animal evacuation as a community this year.
Steps to participate:
Download the app at www.phar.org (even if you don’t practice with us this year - get started with your preparedness plan by downloading the app)
Enter your household animal member information. Ask friends and neighbors to be your animals’ rescuer.
Let us know you want to PRACTICE this year! Complete this form.
During the week of June 16-22nd, prepare with our global community with education and workshop sessions. We’ll send out training tips to help you and your family get ready.
On June 22nd, from anywhere in the world, practice evacuating your animals with real-time virtual support for you and your animal family as you practice.
For Local Colorado families:
If you are local to the Northern Colorado region, practice evacuating all the way to our Lafayette site where other disaster teams are practicing - come join us at 12345 Flagg Dr. Lafayette.
Join other Colorado families in practicing for evacuation - connect and meet a neighbor.
Once you reach the Lafayette site, wander through the Community Preparedness Fair (10a-3p), watch disaster teams practice a full scale animal decontamination scenario and learn about animal-minded, community-led preparedness with your community
Through the support of the Care for the Healer nonprofit - this event is free to the community. There is no cost for this event.
Set the sliding payscale to $0 when registering.
🐶 Why It Matters?
Animals are part of the family. Yet too often, they're unaccounted for in disaster planning or in evacuation preparedness education… not anymore - join in!!
Whether you're just beginning your emergency planning process or are a seasoned responder looking to practice in community, this is a day to reconnect, rehearse, and refine.
During the week of June 16 - 22 2025, our global community invests time, resources, and problem-solving energy into finding solutions that keep animals safe during disasters and emergency evacuations, and in turn, keep their human family members safe, too. We believe that leveraging animal disaster preparedness actions, the success of human and family-unit evacuation success will increase.
