A practical how-to particularly offered for psychedelic trip sitters, guides, and facilitators. Please join us and contribute to pet safety in psychedelic healing and sacred spaces.
A trauma-exposed animal is one that has a history of psychological, physical, or environmental trauma. Animals with these experiences in their history are more vulnerable to stress, physiologic system dysregulation, and psychological re-injury or decline.
This workshop brings together discussion on the presence of animals in psychedelic and ceremonial spaces with broader animal welfare ideas and principles. This workshop addresses concerns for animal physical and psychological safety when animals are exposed to human psychedelic substance use.
This veterinarian-led discussion emphasizes the importance of understanding how chaotic environments and non-ordinary states of consciousness in humans pose multiple physical (ex. tripping hazard) and psychological (ex. exacerbation of underlying caninePTSD) risks of harm to animals.
This workshop and discussion is facilitated by Dr. Casara Andre of VeterinaryPsy, a veterinarian-led group of animal lovers advocating for all-species awareness and consent-focused safety across the emerging psychedelic research, medical, legislative, and education ecosystems.
Topics covered include:
Understanding animal trauma
Stress-related physical & mental injuries in animals
Specialized scenarios: therapy & service animals
Mitigate risks and prevent injury
Supporting healing from injury
