Endocannabinoid System Support during Acute Stress to Prevent Maladaptive Pain
We've come to understand the crucial role of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) in maintaining homeostasis and providing healing support in the face of tissue damage and disease.
Given the endocannabinoids and their receptors' mechanisms of action, their locations both peripherally and centrally, their neuromodulatory properties, and their close connection to the emotional aspect of the pain pathway, cannabinoids have been examined as a potential therapeutic solution for chronic refractory pain.
Notably, the idea of using cannabinoids as a preventative treatment to avoid central pain sensitization is a key topic explored in this lecture.
