In our last week’s discussion, we explored the fascinating research on how classic psychedelics influence human-animal relations and may promote pro-environmental behavior.
In summary, classic psychedelics can profoundly influence and change our relationship with animals and nature. Catch up with our discussion topics by watching the recording.
Discussion Topic: Week 6
Ayahuasca in non-human Primates
This week, we focus on three key papers that explore the use of ayahuasca in non-human primates (marmosets). While a review will be given of each paper, I invite you to come prepared and read these journal article’s prior to this week’s discussion.
Acute antidepressant effect of ayahuasca in juvenile non-human
Prophylactic action of ayahuasca in a non-human primate model of depressive-like behavior
The current state of ayahuasca research in animal models: A systematic review
In our session, we reviewed and discussed the findings from these studies, exploring how ayahuasca affects behavior, cognitive functions, and overall well-being in non-human primates.
As a community, I hope this gives us a broader understanding of the potential implications and ethical considerations of psychedelic research beyond human subjects.
