Roadside Animal Advocacy - An Invitation to Act.
A Community Discussion & Idea-Sharing Session | June 17th 11:30a-1:00p MT
Community Discussion & Idea-Sharing Session
As a special event within the 2025 World Congress on Planetary Health
During the week of June 16 - 22 2025, our global community hosts the second annual World Congress on Planetary Health, focusing on education and community-led action that has deep and positive cascading effects throughout our planet.
👀 When you see an animal injured by the side of the road… what do you do?
Most people look away. Some feel helpless.
Roadside and highway-associated injury for non-human animals occur at astonishingly high rates - every day, non-human animals are struck, stranded, or killed along roadsides.
Most passersby don’t know what’s safe — or what’s legal. This year, as a community, we are choosing to take action - together.
Compassionate response is possible — with a little planning and the right tools.
We believe that a prepared, compassionate response can be life-saving, or at least provide an honorable and respectful passing, for animals injured by roadside accidents.
As part of our 2025 June event, our community invests time, resources, and problem-solving energy into finding solutions that keep animals safe even at the dangerous interface of human-use roads and animal habitats.
On June 17th (Tuesday), 11:30a - 1:00p MST
Join our community in a discussion and idea-sharing session.

🫎 - Why It Matters? - 🐿️
An estimated 1 million animals are killed on U.S. roads each day.1
The Federal Highway Administration estimates that approximately 365 million vertebrate animals are killed by vehicles annually in the United States.2
About 200 human deaths, 26,000 human injuries, and at least $8 billion in important-to-human property damage occurs every year due crashes between motor vehicles and large animals, such as deer.3
In rural areas, wildlife-vehicle crashes represent almost 20% of reported collisions.4
Roads are not only dangerous for people-walking, but also have devastating impacts on environment by altering or destroying habitats and leading to the disruption of entire ecosystems.5
We’re in this together - the animal beings around us matter to US TOO!
Let’s make a plan to keep them safe.
